Still juxtaposing the bizarre and fantastical with symbols of femininity, ‘Cindy Lou Fangirl’ explores the relationship between gender and the body to examine what Ellie terms ‘feminine deviance’. Using typical imagery of female conformity, like bows and frills, to outline the monstrous creatures in the middle, Ellie determines how exactly we define gender and challenges the reductiveness of this.
