Face paintings and face wipes

As Ellie uses her face and body in a lot of her works, from painting to performance, face paint has become integral in her practice. Inspired by drag queen Victoria Sin, Ellie has stored her used makeup wipes as a way to archive her face paint works. Acting as a visual record of a temporary art form, the wipes become artworks too and an important part of her art process.

Truly encapsulating Ellie as a multimedia artist, the wipes and the face paint also come out of the humour Ellie often has when creating just for fun. Constructing shrines and homages out of the remnants of her looks, Ellie’s archive is always an active part of her practice.
